Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Loss Treatment
Alopecia (hair loss) can be a very emotionally challenging condition especially when it affects the entire scalp. Thankfully given the advances in medical research PRP has become a known treatment for hair loss in both men and women. There are published studies showing strong evidence of the benefits PRP treatment has on hair regrowth. PRP treatment is now a well-established treatment in all cases of alopecia.
PRP contains a high level of quality platelets. Platelets are best known in the blood clotting process however when injected into the skin they release several growth factors and
stimulate stem cell formation. These growth factors and stem cells are essential for hair follicle stimulation and regrowth. When PRP is injected into the scalp its helps to improve the hair thickness and density as the dormant hair follicles are rejuvenated.
At Cosmedica Skin we are proud to use the most advanced PRP specialised system on the market. Cellenis® PRP therapy provides a higher concentration of Platelet Rich Plasma which is 3-4 times stronger than an average PRP therapy treatment.
PRP Process
A sample of your own blood is taken (like a normal blood test) in an anti-coagulation tube with separation gel. This tube is then centrifuged for 10 minutes in the state-of-the-art Cellenis® PRP system used at Cosmedica Skin.
The Cellenis® PRP system will then separate the unwanted red blood cells and pro-inflammatory granulocytes from the desired Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Cellenis® PRP is then injected into the areas of the scalp where there is hair thinning and hair loss that require treatment. PRP uses your own blood therefore making it a natural treatment to help with hair loss.

Who is this treatment for?Forehead lines when present can make you look older and more fatigued. From 25 years of age onwards collagen production starts to decline in the skin. This coupled with repeated facial movements can lead to visible signs of ageing such as the formation of forehead lines and wrinkles. At Cosmedica Skin we can help boost your confidence by smoothing out these forehead lines and ensuring a youthful appearance.
-
What does the treatment involve?Anti-wrinkle injections with Botulinum toxin Type A are used. When injected using a fine needle into the target muscle, it works by temporarily blocking the nerve signal and as a result weakens the muscle action. This muscle weakening helps to treat the appearance of forehead lines on expression.
-
Is it painful?Due to Dr Ricky’s light-handed technique and use of a very fine needle discomfort should be minimal albeit a minor stinging sensation.
-
When can I go back to work/normal activities? There is normally no downtime and you can return to work and carry out normal activities straight away. Dr Ricky will explain the relevant aftercare post the procedure to ensure a sustained excellent outcome.
-
How long will it take to see the results?Normally most people start to notice a result after 5 days with a near full result by 14 days. However Botulinum toxin can take up to 30 days to fully work.
-
How long do the results last for?Typically results can last from 3-4 months for some people this can be longer.
-
